Board 2 for Ath was a substitute. Their intended Board 2 - Anthony
Y Jiang, I think, (known as 'Yazoo' by one of the Athenaeum parents)
- had the misfortune to board a tube train that was subsequently
held for 45 minutes between stations and consequently arrived after
the substitution was made. Our Board 1 did not turn up - for which
I apologise. Rather than have me fill in on Board 1 it was decided
to let Nadhmi and Anthony play a friendly game between themselves.
I helped John on Board 3. I was impressed by his young opponent's
play, particularly the handling of the endgame, where he
demonstrated a positional understanding greater than that of his
more experienced opponent. MW |
