07 May 2012	UK CHESS CHALLENGE MEGA FINALS Well done to our three Supremos, Anthony Fox (U9), Henry Phillips (U12) and James Cole (U14). Some seventeen other MCS boys also qualified for the Giga Finals. Anthony Fox had a particularly good day, winning all six of his games. Alex Blake-Martin was 2nd in this group.
31 Mar 2012	ODCL CHAMPIONS! Very well done to our ODCL Division 4 squad, who took the 2011-2012 title after a tight 3-3 draw with St Clare's!
31 Mar 2012	BIRMINGHAM & DISTRICT U14 TEAM RAPIDPLAY An excellent day for our U14s, who took the Visitor's trophy(2nd position) agaisnt strong opposition from Haberdasher's, Nottingham High and the Birmingham teams.
02 Mar 2012	EPSCA 2012 U9 & U11 NEWS A brilliant day for our U9 team saw them take the Silver Medals in 2nd place at the St Alban's tournament, thus qualifying in fine style for the national semi-finals. Our U11s qualified at Aldro School in Bronze Medal position!
19 Dec 2011	NATIONAL PREPARATORY SCHOOLS RAPIDPLAY MCS achieved a very good 2nd position in this tough annual team competition. Particular congratulations go to Daniel D'Souza-Eva (U13 Champion, 5/5); Henry Phillips (U12; 2nd, 4/5); David Phillips (U11; 2nd, 4/5)and the two U9s Alex Blake Martin and Jack Daly (3rd=, 4/5).
30 Nov 2011	Oxon U14 & U130 Chess Final Results Our team went down by a close margin to Hampshire: full results can be found on the SCCU website (link alongside). A more successful outing to Middlesex saw us achieve a very good 12-12 draw, and we finished with a comprehensive 17½-6½ win against Berkshire.
07 Sep 2011	TOURNAMENTS: GODALMING OPEN; WITNEY JUNIOR; ALDRO A good day at this excellent Godalming tournament. Several 2nd and 3rd positions; many chocolate rewards given out! Special MCS trophies were awarded to Henry Phillips (Best MCS U12) and Fraser Bossons(Best Achievement). At the Witney Junior, Liam McKnight was the undefeated champion. Our U13A team won the Aldro team tournament and the U11A team came finished 2nd: well done to both teams!
23 Aug 2011	MCS CHESS SHIRTS Our new supply has now arrived. Parents can order these shirts from me at school. The cost is £15. All boys representing the school should wear one: some loan shirts are also available for individual tournaments.
23 Aug 2011	TERAFINAL CHAMPION! Massive congratulations to MATTHEW DAGGITT, who won the 'Challengers' section of the UK Chess Challenge Terafinals. His last round game, a win over George Salimbeni (210) was a great championship winning result!
14 Jul 2011	MCS Results: July Well done to our U18 team, which reached the semi-finals of the Plate in the British Schools Championships. Well done also to our UK Chess Challenge Giga Finals qualifiers. Daniel d'Souza-Eva came 1st= in the U13 section, and Matthew Daggitt finished 3rd= in the very strong U18 section. Several other boys scored 4pts or 4½pts (Fraser Bossons, U11).
21 May 2011	EPSCA SUCCESS Very well done to our U11A team (3rd) and U11B team (7th=) at the EPSCA National Semi-Finals at Brean Sands. Well done also to Henry Phillips and Liam McKnight, who have both been invited to play for the West of England against Wales in June!
